There is a pretty amazing, tiny team behind Frankie Magazine. I don't mean tiny like ants. I mean tiny like just a few people. Sometimes you only need a few good people to make something extra special and Lara is one of a very excellent few. Here is her life. (All images by Lara!) Thank you Lara! Hooray for the few!

You must get to see so many great crafty and designy things, Lara, working for such an excellent magazine! What kinds of things make you get super excited? Do you have a favourite kind of medium? What sorts of craft/design do you really LIKE a lot?!
As with everything I go through phases, some may last a couple of weeks, others forever. At the moment I can’t get enough Scandinavian folk design, rug hooking, Australiana flora and fauna gouache painting, floral embroidery, hexagon patchwork and basket weaving.
/////////
When you are smooshing about in your pyjamas, or having quiet times, what kinds of things do you like to be doing?
I actually have never been a smoosher. I like to be up and at it, bright and early, always busy doing something. If I could be busy in peace though, that would be AMAZING, but with a two-year-old and little dogs that need to be in a one-meter radius of me I am rarely left alone... poop!

What is your most favourite day out? Where do you go? What do you see? Who are you with?
My favourite type of day is pretty simple... All five of us must be together and all be in good spirits. I like to go out for breakfast super early, maybe go to a bric-a-brac shop for morning tea and find a treasure, go for a walk with the dogs somewhere – ideally somewhere for lunch. After lunch while the family rests I would poke around my craft cupboard. Afternoon tea on the front veranda followed by spending some time in the garden. Have dinner made for me.
Favourite day – not spent in the kitchen (doesn’t happen very often). Whiz around the house and clean up for the following day. Bubble bath and then in bed early.

Where is your favourite place, in your house? Why do you like it so?
My favourite part of the house is the front veranda. I love sitting out there with a cuppa and cake and chatting with Edmund and watching our little neighbourhood go about it’s business. Funnily enough Edmund likes the back deck better, so it is always a compromise....but that’s marriage for you isn’t it :)

What is the best project you have ever worked on? Or maybe there are more than one!?
All of the Frankie projects have been so much fun to work on including each issue. They never get dull because every issue is different from the last. With every issue I feel like I meet a whole new big group of creative and like-minded people . Afternoon Tea, the first cook book that I styled was such a delight. Spaces was a challenging project, but loads of fun too.
/////////
Who inspires you? Who are your favourite creative people?
I am inspired daily by anybody making and creating things. They are my favourite type of people. People that like to keep busy. People that learn new skills, practice and perfect them.
