So. I have a sore throat. I am feeling a bit sooky. It was in this frame of mind that I headed downstairs to breakfast this morning. Cam poured me a cup of tea, I flicked through the paper... chatted about how mortgage defaults have risen by more than 10% in the last 3 months... and then, getting hungry now, I checked out what they were eating, thinking it smelled really nice. Here is what I noted ::
Cam :: 3 crumpets with honey
Max :: 3 crumpets with peanut butter
Total number of crumpets in a packet : 6 crumpets
Amount of crumpets left over after Cam and Max make their breakfast : 0 crumpets
Amount of crumpets I had for breakfast : 0 crumpets
Humph.
Hmm. I never eat the last of anything. I always make sure I portion it out so that there is a bit left for someone else. Do you do that? But how is it that there is rarely any left for ME?! How does that happen? Does that happen to you?! Is it better to just scoff the lot while you can.. or is it nicer to be polite and miss out a lot of the time? Hm. These are important questions, right?
Is this just me? Or is this ringing true for you? Are there things that you seem to miss out on at your house? Does someone else scoff all the cold roast potatoes before you can? Is the ice-cream tub always empty (yet still in the FREEZER!)? Does someone else eat all your cake?! No?! Are you bunking down with greedy people who gobble up all the good stuff and leave you with wilted celery and half a carton of sour milk? Are you?
I should not sulk. There is a happy ending. Cam reckons he will buy TWO packets of crumpets at the milkbar tomorrow. As my Mum would say.. 'Whacko!'
xx Pip
PS :: (I guess I could make my own... from scratch... but I am feeling too poorly for that kind of caper. Do you make crumpets from scratch? What is your favourite recipe, if you do?)
